I'm looking to get either an Accord or a Civic but I keep hearing that there are issues with the timing chain at about 100k miles...is this true? does it happen on all engines, 4cyl and v6? anything else i need to look out for? any help would be great!

Man i got civic's since like the 98's thats not true, now the proper maintenance will keep it alive for a longer time.. my 92 dx which i bought like 6 year ago with 140.000 milles die on my a month ago with 234.000 milles in matter of fact still running is just knocking pretty bad.. but civic's are the best of the best... depending on your state look for rust pockets thats the only bad thing i can tell you about some of them.

timing belts dont just go about breaking all the time on these cars i actually have had 3 civics all over 100k miles and a belt has never broken on any of them,. but it is preventive maintenance that should be done around every 100k as honda states

You can get the belts for about $40, and chances are that you won't change it again, even though it's really not that hard. You'll probably swap the motor or find another car you like better before you rack up another 100k miles.
