Ef hatch wire tuck help!!
im doing a wire tuck on my 89 std hatch and im in process of putting the motor in....should i just pull everything into the cabin (engine harness,ect...)and extend the wires from there...or can i just tear the loom off the engine harness on the engine and try to make the harness that way..i tried a couple threads on here and the pics dnt work and some not really enough info thanks.... help!!!!!
wire tuck b4 putting the motor back in. you want to extend all your wires on the shock towers and run them behind the fender. This will clean up the wires on the shock towers. you dont need the motor in the tuck that stuff. Dot he same witht he fuse box. Figure out where you want it, then extend the cables to run inside to the box. if you do this, i would move the battery inside as well. are you trying to tuck your actual engine harness?
yes im tucking the engine harness as well...do i extend my engine harness wires? or is no extending needed? and with the shock tower harness i just extend those wire from inside the cabin to the fender well rite? and as far as the engine harness what are your ideas? should i pull the motor harness in the cabin as well and extend the connectors to the motor from the inside? or do i take the loom off the engine harness with it on the motor end would the stock wiring be enough length for me to feed it back in to the cabin to attach to the rest of the harness which i pulled inside already?
kind of confusing but bear with me im tucking the fuse box and engine harness i already no what to do with the shock tower harness....thanks

Pictur this. You pretty much start from the top. First tuck the shock tower fuse box. If it is your first time doing it then get a sharpie marker and a roll of masking tape and mark every single wire you clip move or disconnect. That way your next thread isnt "car wont start after tuck"
If you solder and heat shrink your wiring you will be fine just keep track of everything

i understand the fuse box and the shock tower i wanna no about the engine harness...do i extend it or not? is there enough wire in the stock harness not to extend anything? or do i have to extend it to reach from the cabin to the motor?
and if i do extend it or i dont do i start working on my engine harness on the motor outside the car? or do i put the motor in and work on my engine harness from the inside of the cabin to the motor?

You are going to extend alot of stuff. Alternator charging wire the wires for the dizzy maybe you play it as you go and keep extending to get the result you want. I did mine and all I have is one harness running to the center of the firewall. it looks clean and it is different then others I have seen. But I never read up or researched. it is a simple concept just extend hide and clean up the bay.
engine harness is very time consuming if you do the right way. you are going to have to unloom everything. plug it all back into the motor. then figure out what you want longer or shorter. if you want to do it right, you need to de pin each wire at the connectors, cut or lengthen the wire. put your new loom or shrink tubing on then repin into the connector. then you can loom or shrink tube everything however you want to after to make it look cleaner.

They have it in a magazine also about tucking a ef....Think its Project Car I seen it online had pictures and instructions.Google it Chasebay did it for him and they put it in the mag.
if you have a stock si/dx harness then i recommend going to the junk yard and getting a matching harness and doing this all out of the car. that way your not down on a ride. and this way if you run into problems you can still reference you stock harness that is still on your ride.
