I am just trying to find out how many people have tried using the b17a1 cams in there b16 swaps? I was told before that they wouldn't have any difference in these cams compared to the ones from my b16a. I was getting these cams from a friend because he thought they were Type R's(He got screwed over), But he was going to sell them to me, let me bring them home before buying them and check to see what they are, and they are b17 cams. Just wondering if it would be any good to put in my car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in Advanced.

 

I don,t think its worth the work it would involve. You can commonly find a ITR intake cam for around 150 and that would be a lot more beneficial. Im pretty sure the b17 cams are very similar to the B16 ones you have, GSR cams are said to not be worth the swap either.

 

The later GSR cams are a little more aggressive than B16 cams. I swapped some in for a guy and he said it felt a little better, but it wasn't like bolting on a turbo or anything.

Tell him to sell them or send them in somewhere to be reground...even though that's not ideal since it can mess up valvetrain geometry.

 

Ok, that's what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure before I went ahead and worked something out with my friend.. I've been trying to find a power difference and couldn't find anything really.. i'm going to try and find an ITR intake cam. thank you.
