I recently purchased a 91 hatchback with a b18a1 in it. I used the wiring harness it came with it but it doesnt seem to want to start. I tried bypassing the starter and the engine turned over. the dash lights up when i turn the key but nothing happens. Im thinkin it is the wiring harness because it seems as if the previous owner made it from scratch. when you swap an engine do you need to also change the computer? Do i need a wiring harness from a 91 hatchback or the acura?

 

From what i understand you need a completely different ECU and harness to go with the engine for it to work properly.

Try researching here, there is bound to be something.

i know for my 91 civic hb i need a P26 or P72 ECU and a new harness for all the wires.

u need a pr4 ecu obd0 and the orginal harness from the car getts modifed to work ur engine what model type do u have a si or dx?

 

hey can u take pics of the harness in the car u have now depends on wat harness he use cuz civics come two injestors an if they didnt switch it over that culd be the isssue it u can another harness either dx or si

 

yea you need to kno if ur car is a si or dx first of all

then if si its a plug and play matter might have to extend sum wires

but if its a dx u have to convert it to mpfi multi port fuel injector

dx comes dpfi dual point fuel injector

if its dpfi u have to convert to mpfi

 

Im guessing it's an SI

 

Here is what it looks like.

 

is it painted red or have red tape on it looking at its a mpfi harness

ur ecu plugs look at the back of them the big one is ur A plug a3 is your 2 cylinder injector and a7 is ur 4 number injector make sure these are on the back of ur A plug and then u kno u have an si or mpfi conversion done
