p28 chipping..
so i was considering on chipping my stock p28 on my d16z6..but my question is wat should i "change" and what would be a good 2step setting? i basically want better throttle response, no rev limiter, and all that good stuff..maybe set my check engine light as a shift light..
i was thinkin
2step-3.5k
vtec engage-65k
shift light- ???
wat do you guys think?

for what reason are you getting your ecu chipped? what is done to your motor? im asking because a stock z6 wont safely rev past 7800-8k and thats pushing it. imo 2 step is for ricers unless you have real work done because sitting at a light beside your boy bouncing off 2step just makes you look dumb to everyone else. stock z6 should hit/"pop" vtec around 4800, not 6500, which is damn near stock redline. shift light cel is dumb, just know where your car stops making power and shift there.
no reason for 2step or upping your redline. if you want to change your vtec engagement, then i wouldnt push it back further than about 5200. ive heard that vtec should be set so that you can drive highway speeds without being in vtec, but its a preference thing really. im not bashing, but just offering my opinions as a owner of a d15b7.
Changing your VTEC engagement and removing the rev limiter (or increasing it) will cause more problems than it will benefit. You're not going to make any more power past where the stock redline is set at. Actually the stock redline is set higher than where you make peak power, with a stock engine. Changing the VTEC engagement point will also hurt your performance; it's set there for a reason. People change those settings on a dyno, when they get their cars properly tuned, because they actually have the modifications to warrant those changes. If you were running some kind of forced induction, or you have an aggressive cam that shifts your powerband into higher rpms, then you might see some benefit to those changes. Simple bolt-ons like intake, exhaust, and a header are not nearly enough. Honestly with those modifications, I'd recommend not wasting any money at all to get a chipped ECU, even if you decide to get it properly tuned (rather than just running some random basemap).
