vin number on integra block
I need help finding the vin numbers on the block on a 93 usdm b17 motor. The seller of this motor said 93 motors dont have vin numbers , they just have casting numbers which is under the "B17". A friend of mines say all motors have vin numbers which is located around the oil pan. Which one is right?
im pretty sure pre 96 engines dont have a green metal vin thing on them but you can usually find other types of identification on the engine. one might be under the engine code
just looked on my b17 and it doesnt have the usual green tag that my other b16s have. I did spot some numbers right next to cylinder 4 on top of the block where the tranny connects. it started out d20xxxxxxxx. it also had the casting code or whatever under the engine code.
check this out. this is why im concern about the vin. this is around my area dont know about yours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6piXBxVzSQs
wow, thats ****ed up. so they couldnt get the guy on anything else, so they make the car useless? its not like transmissions are good forever, and fenders dont get dented, keyed etc.

wow the video is crazy, for as many car thieves they probably do catch, i wounder what would happen if the owner could provide receipts of those body panels replaced by a legitimate shop after some kind of accident and the transmission being a obd1 which never had vins
"To get the transmission out they're going to have to remove the engine". What?
Yeah, that's BS. Parts go bad, people buy stuff from other people. I don't doubt there were stolen parts, but they could accuse most any of us of having stolen parts unless we have records of all parts we have.
