New on the forums but I've been searching and searching to try to find something similar but no luck.

My Current Set Up is

97 Honda Civic Hatchback
B20/Vtec Swap
Skunk 2 Manifold
Edelbrock Headers
Straight Piped Exhaust to a Stock Muffler.

Currently my car is very loud! and I want to tone it down a bit, my neighbors have been getting pissed whenever I turn on my car or even drive away. The thing is my car brings a lot of attention to myself, and cops are always eyeing me LOL. It's gotten to the point where to even hear my radio it has to be turned up dramatically and when talking to someone in my car I always got to speak loud.

I'm asking you guys, what would be a great replacement to my exhaust that would keep the same performance but would make my car quieter, and if, do I need to change out my headers too.

I have to tell u to get a dynomax muffler from NAPA for like $50. The turbo series is great, quiet with a good tone, stay away from the thrush series tho. Out of all the mufflers my friends and I have tried the dynomax super turbo have always sounded the best for the price. Hell I've liked them better then most of the $400+ systems my friends have tried.

 

Anyone else got any good input on what I should do?

you should try and find a large resonator it will kill the buzz and drone. Ek9 is code for civic type R(jdm) ek4 civic sir (jdm) never seen a lefthand drive EK9 ?

i dunno man, it doesn't sound that loud in the vid to me... honestly some one would have to hear it in person to determine just how loud it is. if you're that worried, flag down a cop and have him help you with a decible test. if it is within legal limits, tell your neighbors to STFU. but yeah as far as quieting it down, get a good muffler, i kind of like magnaflows, and a good resonator, and you should be good.

 

Get a hushpower II you'll be surprised how quite your ride will be.

 

1. It doesnt really sound loud until upper RPM's in the vid.

2. I dont see an EK9.

3. Understeering around a parking lot is fun?

4. As I said, it sounds loud at higher RPM. Your neighbors probably get mad because you probably take off at 8000 RPM, every time. Judging by the fact that you have a vid of yourself understeering through a parking lot like a ricer, I'd venture to say you probably slam gears through the neighborhood.

 

I wanted to change my hole exhaust system, trust me my car is loud even at 2-3000rpm. What a full good exhaust system that is legal, like I said that would most definitely tone down the noise level of my car.
