What size screws hold on the brake rotor and do you need them...
Guys, boogered up the phillps head screws that hold the brake rotor on and need new ones........what size do I ask for at the Fastonal place. I find most folks leave them off, but seems to me if for some reason your wheel falls off , it would be nice to be alble to stop with the rotor still in place. Do yall replace them.......
i leave them off usually since they just rust over and stay frozen. even if your wheel were to fall off the brake caliper and brake caliper brakcet would still hold the rotor on the hub.
True, the caliper would keep the rotor on if the wheel came off. But years ago I bought a use VW and on the drive back home the lugnuts came off and then the wheel. The rear drop down and sparks began flying. I was on a fast moving fourlane at rush hour and pulled off the main road into a parking lot of the Jaguar dealership. They were unloading new Jags as I pulled in with sparks flying and they thought I had lost control. I hit the brakes and came to a stop.........the rotor was eaten up , but stayed intact. The salesman watching the whole thing congradulated me for my driving as they thought I was about wipe out some new Jags. I also learned aluminum mags require need constanant retightning. So, my fear of losing a rotor.......

Alll comments are bs! If yall haven't notice, those screws do serve a purpose as a hubcentric ring centers a wheels on a hub for maximum balance, yea u may leave them off but what good does it do u 2 rotate and balance the wheels and tires if the rotors not centered, just take off one of the best screws without stripping the threads and take it up there, I dnt recall but the thread might be a m12x??? (A little bit longer than stock wouldn't hurt)

the hub is separate from the rotor
those screws are completely unnecessary and were only used during assembly to keep the rotors in place
impact driver's work really good for taking them off but some time's the blue wrench is the only option. there not really needed but it can make puting the pads in the saddle easier but a lugnut will do the samething. i think there fairly cheap from honda
