Icon2 Timing a CRX frankenstein (88DX w/a 91SI head) HELP

Hi Gang please be merciful , I am new , this is my first post
I have an 88 dx auto 1.5 with a 91 1.6 si head on it. I can't get the timing right?
(Can never get the marks right on, and I can’t get it running better than rough)

My questions.

Which timing belt do I need the 1.5 or 1.6 timing belt?

I was told I need the belt for 1.5??
The belt I have on there has 106 teeth.
After calling around the parts guys told me the belt for the 1.5 has 107 teeth???
And the belt for the 1.6 has 106 teeth???
Can someone conform for me

1 Which belt I need?
2 which belt I have?
3 any other advice you might pass to a newby?

All I want to do is drive it.

Thanks
God Bless

The timing shouldn't be any different from a D15. As far as I know, the cylinder heads are the same.

id use the belt for the 1.5 because that one tooth could be the difference in the height between two the block

The heads are 100% the same except for the cam. So you don't need a specific timing belt.

Now, the block is different. The reason you are having so much trouble is the A6 cam is set up for a different block deck height. You're going to need to get an adjustable cam gear and set the cam at about 3 degrees advanced on the cam gear. OR get a y8 cam gear and either set it as 1/2 tooth retarded or advanced.

with one belt only having 106 and the other having 107 id say yes there is a diffenerce use the belt with 107 teeth because that extra tooth with probally make it half tooth or so on the cam gear witch is probally just wat you need

No, you use the same 1.5L belt... Eighty-nine was almost 100% correct.

Use a factory y7 or y8 cam gear, and you're fine. If you get an adjustable y8 cam gear you would leave it almost totally zero'ed out. with an a6 cam gear you'll be 4.5 degrees off.

You are exactly right, except the amount to advance. Go online and buy an adjustable cam gear, and advance it 4.75 deg or get a y7 or 8 cam gear from honda, theyre cheap. use the 1.5 belt bc the block is shorter than the 1.6
