Benen strong bar
ITR's have one from the factory.
I thought the target audience for those bars are 92-95 Civics who have removed the rear bumper support.
The strong bar and trunk brace are two different pieces.
When you remove the bumper support the holes that were once holding the bumper support in, are now used to bolt down the strong bar.
Two different pieces, probably for the same purposes though.

Someone should make aluminum pieces to replace the bumper supports on DC2.
If there is one, can someone send me a link or pic of it?

Here's mine:

The strongbar is not the trunk bar on the ITR's. The BENEN Strongbar gives support during a rear-end collision so that you can safely remove the bumper support for weight reduction (-18 lbs). You can say that it also stiffens up the frame near the trunk because I had less chassis cracking noise after I installed the bar.

its not safe to remove the rear bumper.
You can safely remove the 18lbs of steel and install a 4lb piece of alum? No way. I would only remove the rear bumper if this is a DRAG car only. If you remove it, and get into a rear end collision, or even a side collision, the damage will be much worse vs if you leave the rear bumper on. Ohh, and the rear bumper is hidden incase you are wondering. The outside rubber/plastic part that everyone calls a bumper is just a 'bumper cover'.

agreed, save weight somewhere else instead of removing the vital safety measures that are put there for a reason
The rear bumper support isn't as strong as you think... it's a piece of thin stamped steel that is good for a 5-10mph bash. During an accident, there is almost nothing to stop the car from crushing anyway... the trunk is supposed to crush so the driver won't get injured or killed from the G-forces. The bumper is there to minimize the repair costs from a minor accident. If you think it would save you from a severe rear-end collision, don't even think about it.

Benen is bling, no more.

I think it offers more support than you think. It really doesn't do much to keep the trunk from crushing, rather keeping the rear frame rails together in a serious accident from the rear, and offering resistance in a side collision. You can take yours out if you wish, but don't say I didn't warn you.

you're driving a honda if you don't know if you get hit from the back no matter how hard with or without a bumper support you will get crinkles in the frame !!....
that was possibly the most confusing sentence, using sentence loosly, I have ever read. Could you use correct grammer so we can all understand?
Like I said, take out the bumper and see what happens in daily driving around a road course. You'll have a twisted rear sub frame. Ohh wait, not many of you even have a clue what a road course looks like. Drive on the street w/o the bumper is like asking for trouble. Take out the passanger seat if you want to save the 18lbs.

I dont have the Benen strong bar but I just made my own out of alum. stock and got longer 12mm bolts. Works great, like a previous person said "less creeking sounds", but also seems to stiffen the back end a little.
