HELP lower ball joint snaped *pics*
the lower ball joint on my 91 civic hatch broke off today ... i have a ball joint separator and tried a sledge to get the remaining bolt out but it wont budge..
iv taken the lower control arm off so instead of hitting it from the ground up.. i can get a good whack at it but nothing its STUCK
i took the knuckle completely out and pressed in the new ball joint ..
but in the lower control arm the stud is still in there any ideas on how to get it out?
the axel was blown at the same time .. so had to replace that aswell

to be honest i would just source out another control arm, with ball joints and the control arm, they are tapered to create a "mechanical weld" almost, you will spend forever tryin 2 get it out imo. first thing is first. NEW BALL JOINT
got a new ball joint already installed in the knuckle ... it broke while driving ... at a like 5 km/h
cant afford a new control arm ATM but need the car fixed asap

i just realized it .sorry have a 91 civic aswell so im always in this section ... but a ball joint and control arm is the same concept on the ed and ek ... want me to change the car of it to a 1991 ..i just need help so no need to be rude
well you could try to eat up the control arm and punch the ball joint out, but it will screw up the geometry of the control arm, and then possibly not be able to get a new ball joint to fit securely, just try to punch it out man.

seriously, ive been in this exact same position before. just drill it out, start small and use a progressively bigger bit. once you hollow it out enough, it will lose its strength and tension and just fall out.
dont use heat. it ruins the coating. will rust out.
