DIY crank pulley replacement
hey all I replaced my crank pulley today because it was very worn and scrubbing against my timing cover
before you start use good genuine honda oem parts

1. I raise the lude and removed the wheel
2. place the honda crank tool and spin the crank to hold it in place

4. set up some 1/2 inch extensions and support it on a jack stand so you dont slip and strip the bolt.

5. after removing the crank bolt loosen the 12mm bolt on the pwr steering pump.

6. then loosen the 10mm adjustment bolt on top of the pwr steering pump and remove belt

7. loosen 14mm bolt on alternator.

8. loosen 10mm adjustment bolt and remove belt.

9. remove the pulley and inspect for any damage on crank or timing cover, mine was really scuffed up.

10. you can see on my pulley where it was starting to walk off.

11. installation is reverse of removal, just dont overtighten the drivebelts.

the key on the crank should be in all the way so it sits flush with the crank, it shouldn't stick out like that.
although as you tighten things it should go in but i would put it in before installing the crank so everything is flush.
also some locktite on the bolt would be a good idea.
nice write up though great stuff.

I actually put antiseize on the bolt and the inside of the pully because I smashed my knuckles trying to take off the bolt and the crank didnt want to slide off, next time it'll be easy when doing a timing belt.
got it from honda over here in near detroit itcost me 130 bucks. its better than hearing all that nasty scrubbing and seeing smoke from belts rubbing

How much do you retorque the bolt to? If your using multiple extensions? I replaced mine back in July, but its starting to wobble again, so I will be picking up a genuine Honda crank/bolt, and the tool to replace it again, and was wondering how much to torque the bolt because I will be doing it all by hand :D I will probably have enough extensions to clear the fender on a 4th gen, with an adapter for a smaller socket. Thanks
i just need a tad bit of help, i need a new key for my 95 honda accord lx, where is the best place to get one that is already to size? should i just call the nearest dealer and ask them? - thanks
