Where should component system (6.5) crossovers be mounted??
Okay, i'm thinking of getting a rockford fosgate 6.5 component system (model fnx2614). First off....is this a good comp. system for around $200, which is what i wanna spend on my front speakers.
Second, for whatever comp. system i choose...where would i mount the crossover?? I have a 97 DX coupe if that helps.
All help welcome and TIA

Ideally, it should be mounted outside of the door, but you may need to drill out the molex connectors to run extra wires though. Most people just install the crossovers in the door.
i would just use double sided tape and mount in inside the door. that's what i did with mine and i have no problems. just givin some ideas.
Put them in a plastice bag and zip tie it closed. Then mount them in the doors.
Exactly how you should do it if your mounting in the door.I've auditioned all the fosgate sets and the infinity sets which are in the similar (or even LESS!) price range. I think you should take a listen to a set of infinity Kappa 60.5cs (its $165 online) and it'll blow away those FNX's, I feel their highs are a little too bright in comparison.

you can either mount it in the kick panels and then run wiring from there into the door via the stock harness/connector, or you can place the X-overs in a plastic baggie and seal it so it doesn't get too much moisture and what not and mount it somewhere so it doesn't get in the way w/ the window operation, or you can mount them in the back w/ your amps and run the wiring I suppose.. theres lots of configurations you can do...
The crossovers that come with the rockford separates are very small and are shaped like the rockford logo. You should have no problem fitting them in the doors.
