AEM fuel rail complications, Anyone else?
So I got my AEM rail in from Summit today and started trying to put the injectors in.... No matter what I did I couldnt get the injectors to go in the bores without it slicing the o-rings. I put oil on them, used a blunt straight head and tried guiding them in, tried rocking them side to side, tried heating the rail, EVERYTHING. So I took my micrometer out and messured the inside bore of the OEM rail and the AEM rail. SAME. However, I found the difference was the OEM rail has a taper top to the bore to allow the injector to seat without tearing it. My AEM rail was a straight bore no taper.
Also i'm using an Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator so I needed to plug the OEM fuel pressure regulator hole. HA thats not possible because they sent me an 1/8th plug and the hole is threaded 10mm 1.25 WTF so I had to drill and tap for 1/8 NPT (I hope it doesnt leak not)
How I got the injectors in the holes? Well I had to spend an hour carefully filing a taper on the top of the bore with a round file, then using 3M scotch to sand it smooth on the top.
I called AEM about the injector problem, the guy said they should fit use some oil, called back and he said keep trying. After 8 o-rings I said FIZUCK THIS and started filing.
I called back about the fitting and they said it has to have a 1/8 NPT thread. I said nope, and he said well tap it....
Its BS for me to spend 140 bucks for something I have to drill for hours to work.

That sucks, guess thats the kind of service you can expect when a company grows too large to care about the little guy.
If the bores were the same from the OEM and AEM, the only difference was the chamfer on the hole, sounds like it would have been easiest/fastest to chamfer the holes like the OEM rail...but I am a machinist so...easy for me to say...but it is really easy for anyone with a chamfer and a hand drill.

Best thing is to use some clean grease, or silicon grease and it will prevent the O-rings from getting cut.
The AEM rails usually come slightly chamfered.. I wonder if the newer ones are lower quality?

are the newer design still red? My rail came from Summit Racing and upon arival (I didnt take pictures) the inside of the rail had MANY Aluminum Shavings in the bore. So I ended up cleaning those out and then had to chamfer the rail.
I mean I could have delt with Taping the 1/8th NPT fitting, but having to file a chamfer by hand on a 140.00 rail sucked. Not to mention I went out and bought a gun cleaning kit just to make sure all the aluminum was out of it before I reinstalled it...

It has been easily 5 years since I installed my AEM fuel rail, but I am sure the injectors went right in no problem. Just like several other companies out there maybe quality has become an issue.
anyone have a picture of the AEM fuel rail from the injector side? I'm wondering if they are supposed to be chamfered. I dont see why the hell AEM would make a rail that isn't.
Can you fit your 1/8th NPT plug in the OEM FPR port?
Take a picture of the injector side of your rail for everyone to see. I modified mine before I thought about taking pictures.

maybe the rail is from older production? I have never had a problem with aem rails except that they got some of the anodizing in the threads, which made for a bitch of a time cleaning them up and getting the fittings in.
I just need to know if the rails come chamfered or not...
My rail isnt leaking after me modifying it but if it was supposed to come chamfered then I'm sending it straight to AEM
