my civic 90 si with a acura ls motor will not start right up when it is cold from sitting over night it just cranks and cranks for about 5 minutes then it starts up and the some times it does not start by the key i have to start it for the starter by jumping it from the battery to the starter in great need of help !!!!!!

 

When's the last time you gave it a tune up?

 

Since you have to run a power wire to the starter it seems that you should check all your ground and power connections.
If those are all good then I believe it's time to take the plastic off the steering column and get hold of a service manual to test your ignition switch.
