Default CHP INSPECTION

Sup guys, so i bought this SALVAGED 2004 Honda Civic Vp............. its a good car and all but after i bought it and tried to register it, i got referred to the CHP. So from what ive read and searched here on HT, I still have some questions. Any help will be appreciated!

1. I read that the VIN numbers can be diff for the engine and the cars actual vin? is this true for the 2001-2005 also?

2. If the VIN metal tag is broken off for w/e reason where else can i check for the engines VIN?

3. The last thing im wondering is if the VIN Tag on the engine is missing is this an Auto red flag?

since the VIN Tag is broken....... i kinda want to possibly check if the engine is stolen or not so i can replace it with a legit one. Since it seems the CHP can keep the car if it has stolen parts?

1) from the factory, the vin on the chassis is identical to the vin on the engine. it may be different if the engine was changed or if the car was cut in half then rewelded to another. either way, the vin should not have been removed from the engine.

2) i'm pretty sure the engine only has one vin.

3) where i am (not in the usa), a car missing any vins is automatically considered stolen and will be impounded by the police. you should contact your local police office or insurance company for the answer to this question.
