No, they aren't quiet at all... This muffler was really made to control the drone for typical V8 or V6 motors, but never worked well for a 4-cyl.

The noise was comparable to a straight through Magnaflow 5x8 3"muffler

i agree with tony....had one for a short period of time on my car it was loud as ****....

for an inexpensive quiet chambered muffler try the dynomax super turbo.

if you want to spend the money on a really nice system then the xforce varex muffer is what you want. stock like quiet when closed. flows like a straight thru when open. http://www.xforce.com.au/cars/view_car/29

hello,

i saw the xforce exhaust, but its too expensive for me at the moment,

in a different post i asked about mufflers tony said that the dynomax super turbo can cause a power loss, and i cant afford it with my D16

yes the super turbo muffler is going to be a restriction. (any chambered muffler will be)

but for up to a certain amount of power/flow they will work perfectly fine and still keep the sound down.....just don't try to cram 400+ hp thru the muffler and you will be fine.

Said muffler in question....

This is of my car a few years ago with the same Magnaflow XL muffler except it was 3.5" w/ aluminum tubing, no resonator, no cat.
