My question is about the crower 403.. Can you run these 403 without the spring and rainters? Would better if you get the 403 cams with retainers and springs? If you set the cam sprockets at o intake and 0 exhaust...will you gain power? My 92 g2 has cai/h/e/p and furture mods will either a fpr or apexi safc and maybe hyerduck ecu from canda And one last thing How can I pass smog if I get the cams? Because I live in Cailfornia
Thank You In Advance For Help You Can Provide

You can run them without springs and retainers but its obvious that its better to run them WITH the springs & retainers. This way, A) you will prevent valve float from tired valve springs, B) you can chip your ECU and rev a little past 7200rpm with confidence.
As for running them without cam gears, it is doable, but to get the most out of them you should get the gears as well. You can also help the idle out a lot by adjusting the cam gears to your liking.
As for ECU's, you'd be better off with an FPR & chipped ECU from hyperduck. I've got 404's running +4/-2 on the street chugging like a tuned harley but at 0/0 its not that bad. The FPR is essential, and the ECU is icing on the cake.

Thanks Rich By any chance have dyno the car with the 404 and Nice clean G2 cause I visit http://www.g2ic.com and saw your pictures of your ride. And Sorry If put attention to one person my reason for doing that is because I barely see g2 question?

I wouldnt run the 403's without the springs because if you float a valve at high RPM you might end up needing a whole new engine afterwards. Its not worth the risk.
Yes, you can run the 403's on stock springs. I have been doing this for about 4,000 miles with no problems. I've also dragged the car some and redline it every once in a while. Just make sure and get your valves adjusted, about every 10,000 miles. Yes, it is better to get the springs, but when I got the cams I did not have enough money to get the springs. I've talked to Crower directly about this and also to a lot of respected tuners.
Basically, yes, you can run the Crower 62403's on stock springs.

Oh yeah, and running them on 0,0 would be fine for the time being. You might lose some low end, but up top they will pull hard. I had mine installed initially at +2/-2 and the idle was alright, but died when the weather was warm. I'd recommend 0,0 until you can get at least an FPR and a dyno tune. The S-AFC is highly recommended. It gives the cams fuel up top AND less fuel down low, which the FPR can't do. With the S-AFC, my car will now pass smog. Well, numbers-wise at least.

G2Integrity, Was It hard to program the safc and what price did you pay for it?
so, are the 62403 supposed to be ok with new stock springs, or with 10 year old ones? I would be uneasy about running that cam on stockers. I have the single springs and aluminum retainers with mine. It is a nice compromise costwise between the most expensive spring/retainer combo.
