Anyone ever replace a CV boot by this method?
What a horrible way to change a cv boot. It probably would have been quicker to change it the normal way by taking the axle out and apart, not to mention the normal way wouldn't involve the damaging affects of heating and stretching the boot. I'm pulling my ASE cert card and am going to advise against this method.

Looks like a quick and dirty method, if that's what you are looking for then why not just do a speedi boot and not even bother having to take anything apart? I'd rather just pull the axle out of the trans at that point, doesn't take but a second to use a pry bar to pull the axle out. Once you have it out of the car you take it apart and replace both boots on the bench.
not sure i would've done it that way, but looks like it worked ok. guess if you were looking for a quick, easy way to change the cv boot then this might be a way for you.

hmm I would just buy a new (remanufactured) Axle at autozone. And then have a lifetime warranty and not deal with fixing the CV boot haha. But I am just lazy. Taking out and installing an axle is really easy so why not just replace the whole thing?
Every one has there way of doing things but it dosen't mean it the correct or easiest i would of just taken apart the axel and replace the boot that way
. The stock axles will last forever as long as you can keep them lubricated and free of dirt by replacing the boots in time.
problem is that the quality of replacements from places like autozone is terrible. They either won't last very long or they can even click while turning even after replacement
