Icon3 92 CIVIC PROBLEMS =[

Hey I have a mystery problem witht my 92 civic just seeing if any one could help or offer some advice. As limited expereince with cars

I just put a new clutch in my civic and now when im driving it when i accelerate it feels like the clutch is slipping (well actually its more like chattering sound) the result is there is no or very slow acceleration. It has nothing to do with the clutch though im pretty sure because the engine dosnt rev up which would educate slipping. My possible thoughts are it has something to do with fuel injection or possibly a restriction of air flow, im really not sure thought just putting that out there. Thanks for the help guys and Happy New Year

Did you put the ground back on near the thermostat?

Yes, and the one that hooks onto the thermostat housing.

yea the engine usually revs up when you give it gas. There are random intervals during acceleration however where despite giving it gas the engine dosnt rev up and it just kinda somewhat sputters or (chatters) and dosnt accel. Im pretty sure this problem is to do with the engine as its also been accompanied by a pretty crappy idel. Also these problems were present before the clutch went in also im pretty sure there just more obvious now because the car dosnt drive like a complete piece of crap and your not completely concentrated on the clutch slipping. Any how thanks again for all the posts

Really? Grounds > Electrical system > ignition > engine

But you failed to answer. Does it rev up normally when the clutch pedal is in???

Adjust the clutch cable (they are cable aren't they? ) so that the clutch is fully engaged when the pedal is out.

Sorry, stuck in Nissanland again. Make sure the clutch is fully engaged when you're off the pedal. Sounds to me like it's not fully engaged and as a result slips.

no the clutch is fully engaged i replaced the master and the slave is solid and im completely supressing the clutch. Also to help with the problem a bit more whe accelerating it seems like a delayed kinda thing where ill acceelerate then it chatters and dosnt go anywhere and then is corrected quickly or soon after.

then take the filter out and inspect it see if its so dirty its barely getting air..its not that hard, have you tried running diagnostics on ecu atleast to cancel that out? it could be a number of things bad injectors, clogged cat, bad fuel filter, spark plugs etc.. if it runs as bad as you say maybe a full tune up is a way to go if none of that has been performed for however long youve owned it
