Default battery light

Hey guys, problem. Today in the morning I turned on my car and the battery light came on, and stayed on till I got to work. Which,of course I turn the car off. Whats happening.

Your alternator went south. I had the same problem. Changed alternator and light went out.

Do you have a digital multimeter? If so, then check the voltage when the car is running. It should be over 14, or so. If it is under that, then the alternator is bad.

Multimeters are less than $10 and very handy - hollar if you need help using one.

The most common reason for the battery light is the alternator.
