Brake Question....Need Opinions
Well i put on new pads and rotors today, but i have a little problem. I have to press the brake pedal to the floor for my car to stop, and it doesn't stop very fast. Do you think that i just bled the brakes wrong or what? Let me know what you think.
bleed your master cylinder ... and see if that fixes it .
just fill it up with the proper amount of brake fluid .. have one guy pump the brakes 4 or 5 times and hold it ... you pop the bleed screw thing .. and fluid should come out .. and keep doing this for a while until you dont hear/see any more air coming out of the lines .. and keep filling the master cylinder with the proper brake fluid
keep doing it until all 4 sides you cant seem to get any more air out of the lines ... and then fill the master cylinder back up to the top ... and then test em out (;
if you not sure where all those parts are .. .pick up a helms manual www.helminc.com

since you just put in new pads and rotors (all new material) did you bed it in properly? maybe its not broken in yet.. when I first put in my Hawk HPS and Brembo blanks the brakes felt really weak.. and didn't seem to bit as well as they do now... I took it easy for the first 500 miles or so and now they work great.... if you didn't open up the lines you shouldn't NEED to bleed the brakes but I do so every year or when I change pads just to get all the old/dirty fluid out...
does your pedal actually sink to the floor? or do you mean the braking power is just weak? if it feels spongy/sinks to the floor then it could be the master cyl.. but if it just feels weak /lack of braking power w/ the new pads/rotors.. maybe they just need to be bedded/broken in.. take it easy for the first 300-500 miles.. mine were fine after that...

ok guys thanks for all your input. I fixed the problem by bleeding the brakes a second time. I didn't get all the air out of the lines the first time.
