i need some opinions i have an ef with a b16a in it and i like the way it pulls but i am possibly able to get a h22a swap to put in my other ef. i want to kno if anyone likes one more than the other. please help me decide
i have the b16a ef i might sell it to buy a prelude with a 40k h22a in it and i have another ef im building and when its done i wanna either keep my b16 or get the h22 so i wanna kno what people think which they like better. and ill take that and help me decide what i wanna do.
If you go H22 Spend the money for a H2B kit. Those are awesome.
Or if you want to go all H22 check this thread out. Might answer your Q's.

Personally I'd rather slap a JRSC or a turbo on that B16 vs. installing the H22. Just because it's already in there so theres no need to cut or weld. However, goin H2B is soo tempting tho.
B16a siR 1
Power: 160ps (118 kW) @ 7,600rpm & 15.5kgm (152 Nm) @ 7,000rpm
Redline: 8100 RPM
H22a
Power: 197 hp) @ 6,800 rpm & 161.50 ft·lbf (218.96 N·m) @ 5,500 rpm
i'de say those numbers speak for themselves.
BUT its alot more expensive and difficult for a true H swap. and if you think about it, the money you'll spend on the H2B kit wont be saving you anything. for that price you can get an H tranny and custom linkage and axles. probably still have some left over.
I dont understand why an H22a costs LESS than a B16a...H22a's are waaaay more powerful in every way!
Easy, supply and demand.
I'm lol'ing at all the people throwing out "just do an H2B" as if an H2B in a 4th gen is as simple as pulling the engine out and putting the H2B in.

After that it's hitting the search button for hood clearance and the clutch/tranny (cable/hydro) info.
You're forgetting cross member clearance, alt. bracket relocation, crank pulley clearance, radiator hoses, etc. It's not a swap where you pull the old engine/trans out and put the H2B in.
It's just funny to see people say "Just do an H2B, they're sweet!", kind of like if someone saying "just throw a K in there"
The OP is asking if anyone likes one more than the other. It's a very broad and "new" question. I seriously doubt he knows what you have to do to put an H2B in a 4th gen.
I get what you mean now.
Well b16 is as easy as wiring, mounts, shift linkage, throttle cable and axles
h22/B install level is more involved
frame rail has to be modified balancers have to be removed crank pulley gets modified along with the above mentioned.
If you go with the h22trans then shift cables get installed....etc.
yea. catinthehat is right.
you realize that H22a's are from the JDM 4th gen si prelude right? doesnt come in the USDM models.

H22 DID come in usdm preludes dude. Just like the del sol got the B16.
its the Vtec model. DO your homework, and you don't need custom linkage either.
