f22 engine be removed without transmission?
Yeah just did it last weekend 93 f22 auto. You will need a cherry picker to do it! now it might be harder or next to impossible with a manual tranny, do to the clutch clearance.
auto c an be done.....manual can be done but wouldnt advise it was it requires alot of shimmying and almost precise movements on the motor by a cherry picker and 3 ppl
Thats harder than taking the whole thing out as one piece cause you're gonna be removing the tranny bolts and wiggling the engine as you're pulling it out. It might be easier; who knows.
yea with a manual it will be 100% harder...with an auto not so much...remove the torque convert bolts the rear mont and the bolts connecting the bell housing to the engine and the auto tranny will slide off with little trouble if done right

okay, if you dont have a transmission jack it will be a real pain for sure. the tranny is fairly heavy. This are the main steps you would have to
1. drop center cross member ,
2. remove exhaust,
3. remove driver passenger and front engine mounts,
4. remove harness , clutch line, shifter select etc. from top of tranny
5. passenger side axle
6. remove bolts
7. lower the engine enough so you can slide the transmission about 3 or 4 inches out.
so i would say just take them both out and swap them while the engines out. if you have a friend it would take you 30 min if not shorter, probably about an hour or so by yourself.
