D16->B16 trans conversion, SwapShopRacing kit
How sweet would it be?? To have the SWEET b16 trans gearing and aftermarket availability, mated to our sweet D16 engines. I know I want it. I emiled them, but cant find a link of info on the kit and what the install would entail.
Click this link and its the very last product on the page

Im curious what a pillow block adapter is, and what kind of axles and clutch and flywheel would be needed for this
Im sick of going through Si trannies and paying $300 for good working ones and there are so many more reliable LSD options and clutch choices for the B series trannies
Any info post up!!

comes with a flywheel...i'm guessing you use a b-series clutch and axles since that is the transmission you will have. not sure what the pillow block adapter is, but the rest seems straightforward to me

for that price just do a complete swap. because there will be no place for the intermediate shaft to bolt onto on the motor like the B-sereies and (DOHC D-series) motors have. unless you are mating it to a DOHC D16
I dont want a B series engine, I have plenty of built D16 engines with forged pistons and rods and need a better transmission solution. Si trannies like to throw diffs and forks on 350+whp
Id love to see a conversion without an adapter plate used
I emailed Bisimoto on the forum and using his email, didnt get a response from the first place I linked yet either

there is a guy 3/4 of the way through a plate-less conversion on d-series.org.
It's a side project, and is moving along slowly, but surely.

i believe that the pillow ball adapter is similar to the item i circled here in red (the image is an h2b kit in a 6th gen civic)

so it looks like they actually provide an adapter for the half shaft problem

Ya seriously lol, like I said, I have 3 fully built d16 blocks and 2 amazing heads, tons of intake and t/b mods, custom turbo manifold etc. And since Im only looking for 350-400whp, it aint worth it for me to swap to b series. I just need some tranny options, the all the benefits of b16 gearing and LSD options and clutch availability.
D->B for around $1500 for EVERYTHING would be worth it to me

its all about what you want.
and my a6 block had spots for the my zc halfshaft to bolt to. not just dohc zc blocks had them.
not sure if it would line up using a b trans and a zc halfshaft though....

Right. I was also thinking the same. It has to be custom because of the spacer plate "spacing" the the tranny over you couldnt use the stock half shaft bolt locations on the block.
I am interested in this kit also. My Best friend and I built the fastest twin cam ZC back in the day 1997. We couldnt make a tranny last past 330h.p.

Well enough bashing, seems like thats all anyone wants to do on this site.
That and try and enforce there own "better" opinion. I dont care if its mor expensive than a swap, as the swap wouldnt make near the power and would void my already huge investment in D16 blocks
So knowone actually has experience with this kit?

this is only really recommended for D-series folks having problems keeping there transmissions together. cheaper to follow what is being done on the d-series.org thread than the evo kit which the adapter plate alone raises the price. i would rather run a b-series transmission any day. but by no mean is any transmission set-up bullet proof but the b-series transmission does give the hardcore folks some leeway.
the b-series trans may be more durable, but everyone still gets grinds etc. mine has a 2nd gear issue that came with the car!
i would say it's more how you drive it than the transmission. you could get custom d-series forks or gears made cheaper if you ask me.
and yes, the pillow block adapter in the kit is probably for the half-shaft
