Yep like the title says... Christmas Night I was headed to my familys house for Christmas dinner... I hit some loose gravel/sand in the center turn lane as I was entering the highway... Car went sideways, no big deal im use to it I DD the barbie car all year round, well the guy in front of me stopped in the middle of the road to either see what was going on or just cause he is an idot.

I had so slam on the brakes to avoid hitting him went off the road and hit a decorative BOULDER (600+lbs). at about 40mph... sideways








Not sure if it is totaled but I am leaning toward a total loss

Yeah it doesnt look like there is any frame damage, maybe just a new fender and door. I dunno if that peice under the door unbolts or whatever so Im not sure whats needed to replace that.

oh there is definatly frame damage..... Ill post a few more pics.... it hit hard enough to crack the windsheild and bent the windsheild frame... hold on for some pics

 

If you look in the first series of pictures at the picture of the top frame you can see the bend in the windsheild frame. it looks like a little bubble but it is bent.

In the 6th pic you can see it pushed the door sill over about 4 inches almost to the clutch pedal

 

I'd be surprised if that was totaled. It does look pretty sh*tty though. I guess you'll find out when the adjuster gets a good look. GL.

 

Hey I just saw where you were located. If it is totaled, I would like to get some things from the car. Let me know if that is going to be possible.

Frame damage?... Unlikely. Door, fender, and rocker panel need to be replaced. The door jamb can be pulled out/straightened. Then the car would need color matching and blending. Also your lucky the airbags didnt deploy which is highly likely to total some cars. I would estimate repair cost at around $3500 from what ive seen.

Looks totaled to me. If they don't total it, make sure you go over every inch and make sure it's perfect before you take it back. Chances are it wont be... Sorry about your loss bro.

well just a small update... the body shop adjuster went out to the tow yard today to do a quick estimate... he said that he wanted to look at it before they tear it down to look at it... he said just by looking at the damage im sitting at about 57% of the cars worth to fix it.

He said that he cant tell for sure until he gets it to the shop and starts the teardown of what else is and could be damaged...

Well just got back from the body shop...... Ugh, Here is a partial list, replace and paint L Fender, the whole door, Replace the rocker panel windsheild and all the trim, replace the hinge pilar possibly the widsheild frame. the door panel is cracked. That is some also I guess it hit hard enough to break one of the motor mounts tranny hit the tunnel, bent the sway bar bent the lower control arm, pinched the exhaust on the RT side, Rt fender got a small ding in it. Cracked the spot welds in a couple places. and the list goes on.


The body shop said they recommend it be declared a total loss. :'( But on the plus side I did get to drive it again today hahaha, still drives straight just a little rough from the motor mount being broken. Im thinking about the buy back option though cause there is a lot of interest in the parts.... or whole car....

Just the super rough estimate is like $8600 I will upload some other pics in a little while from the fender off and all that fun stuff.
