Help removing carpet, namely underneath door sills
Trying to remove the carpet but the door sills (plastic part that holds the carpet down inside the door jam) have this hex type of screw that seemingly Hercules put in himself. I believe I have the right hex tip but after using all my might, I am afraid I am going to strip it. Is there any specific tool or technique to remove these hex screws? Thanks.
i dont think you can remove the carpet without removing those "hex" bolts off the door sills first.
the bolts you refer as "hex" are torx bolts. use torx bits to remove them.
i believe the one you need is either T40 or T45 size. i just purchased a set to remove my carpet aswell. was like 12bucks from Kragen.

If they are completely stripped out use an air hammer with a chisel bit to break it loose. Dont go apeshit but just enough to break it loose.
I would only do that as a last resort if you theyre completely stripped.

Had two t40 torx bits on hand. The t45 did not fit. I Used a rachet, breaker bar and liquid wrench. Got three of four out before fourth got stripped. Sacrificed one t40 bit, one screwdriver and a screwdriver bit to get last one out but no success. I got a few turns is all before stripping it. Will replace with regular bolts because I hate the torx bolts.
No I used a ratchet with a torx bit inserted into it and a two foot breaker bar. It worked for 3 out of 4 bolts. Last one was the worst, almost had them all done.
