its the distrib.proby top dead cylinder sensor or ignitor or cylinder position sensor.look uder the passenger side carpet and see what code its giving.
buy a new one!!!!!!!!! dont get a used one,one from autozone or what ever.like $160.00 with a life time warranty.
From my limited experiences with these things ( has happened once each on 88DX and first 91Si and am expecting it to happen eventually with current one ! ) it has been the ignitor . $90 from your local Hondamart IIRC . The first time it happend I did the whole expen$ive replace rotor/cap/distrib etc first
pull up the passenger side carpet on the fire wall.theres a metal plate that goes over the ecu.theres a clear hole there.get in the car turn on the key you will see a red led light flash when you do this.from trying to start it befor when it did not start the led should be flashing.with the key on count the flashes and count them.post it when your done and ill tell you.

Distributor rotor screw...almost guarantee it.
I had this happen to me, got it home...took off the cap and the screw that holds the rotor on came out. If it doesn't come w/ a lockwasher, get one or put some MEDIUM STRENGTH (NOT HIGH STRENGTH) locktite on it; won't give you any more problems.

Either that or your threw a timing belt and you have to replace your engine

main relay? i had the same happen to me today, although i get some intermittent starting when hot, always starts when cold (outside temperature). in reading up on it, my problems are about 99% the same as everyone else with main relay problems. search in the archived posts in this forum for main relay and read up, hopefully it will help. only $45 to replace.
That's the exact thing that hapened to me with my 89 Si and looked at everything even the main relay box on the drivers side kick panel and it wasn't even that. Anyways I swapped it out for an LS but if you figure it out lemme know please.... we think maybe it was the injectors even though everything checked out at the ends of the leads to the injectors.....

if it was the main relay the fuel pump wouldn't be coming on
IGNITOR!!!!!!!
This little guy right here! it's inside your distributor and your coil wires go through it. Honda doesn't list it as a "sold seperately" part, but the regular auto parts stores do. This is what happened to mine.

I beg to disagree about the ignitor not being sold by itself by Honda. Anyway-it replace it means taking the distributor apart to get it out. I would go for a remanufactured dizzy in this situation.
the only dizzy i can get is from an autoparts store, and it is $180 with nothing else included in it. i really dont know what to do. how do you check the coil, cause all i have is a haynes manual and thing is freaking confusing. help me!!!!!!
its all stock because i just bought it a month ago, i havent had time to mod it and its already dead.
It isn't a big deal at all to replace the ignitor - just a couple screws really - and I would deffo give it a try before going with an entirely new distributor . Its a bit of a crap shoot as to whether your whole dist. is shot but I'd lay odds on the cheaper ignitor
AutoZone and Advance weren't able to supply one but the Honda dealers had them in stock .
