94 Accord Auto Tranny ?
When I put her in "D" it feels like it engages twice. When I first put the gearshift into D the car won't move then there's a second "bump" and then the car will move. Then, when shifting btw gears it shifts Hard(too much bump)
I am keeping the car, and don't know if I should try to fix the tranny, or wait till she blows, and replace with a rebuilt one. The car has a 4cyl engine and is a two door, EX model

Honestly it sounds like what you are describing is normal. How far apart in time are these two "bumps"? If they are really close apart, it is normal and is actually signs of a good AT. Bad ones will jerk forward right away once put into Drive. If you put it in Drive but the car does not move forward at all until you give it gas, there is a problem. It is probably to safe to say it has been a while since the car's AT fluid has been replaced so give that a shot, it can only be for the better. Honda ATF-Z1 fluid only.
I have had my Accord since 67,000 miles and now at 117,000 it does the same thing as when I first got it. Put it in drive and then about ~1-1.5 seconds later it shifts into gear. I ALWAYS have my car stopped before it shifts into gear. I think it would be hard on the tranny if your car starts rolling and then BAM it pops into gear. However, it does take maybe a second longer in wintery weather such as now.
Also good advice about the fluid. If I remember correctly it takes about 2.5 quarts (at $8-9/qt) for a simple drain. And it is easier than changing the oil! Drain, refill with 2.5 quarts (Double check that), drive a mile or two to warm up the transmission and then check the fluid level with the car running. Watch your forearms though! The radiator hoses can cause a lovely amount of pain!
I agree.
