there is a huge difference between a 4" angle grinder, and a buffer. well there isnt if you try to use a grinder as a buffer.

the 4" angle grinder has no control over speed. the buffer is way more controllable. IMO if you can put a buffer wheel on the 4" grinder you may still remove paint. just a little slower than with a grinding disc.

I'm going to guess no on that one. A buffer will spin at about 1000-1500rpm whereas your grinder spins at 11,000 rpm. You'll cause damage to the paint.

There's kits out there that convert 4 1/2" grinders like yours into buffers, I've seen them, but don't know where to buy. I wouldn't get one though because of your high rate of speed.

i guess you could put a varaible resistor in there somewhere, but why not just get the tool intended? if it is a 1 time thing i guess i understand, i see dewalts for ~209.

in the end you still have a grinder. and even still the rotary buffer has an arbor for a 7" buffer. it may not be the same arbor size as the 4" grinder.

I personally used to work in a car detail shop for a year and a half. Having used the dewalt variable buffer I know that even when the RPMs get to 2,000 it can be very easy to screw paint on a car up unless you're trained on how to use such a buffer. I typicly kept it between 1200-1400. very rarely did I ever go as high as 2000. 11,000 RPM is a very quick way to ruin your cars paint even if it is using the proper buffing pads.

The guys above are trying to help you by saying don't even think about it. I agree with them to a certain point.
If the manufacture of the grinder makes a kit to convert it from a grinder to a buffer see about possibly ordering that from them. Looking at your grinder I don't think that model would support such a kit as it seems to be on the lower end of the available grinders.

You could very easily pick up something like this for around $30 vs a kit (if available) to convert it over for if I had to guess a price would be $80.
