SWAP PROBLEMS???????
I BOUGHT MY 98 CIVIC EX WITH A BLOWN MOTOR. I SWAPED A OBD0 NON VTEC MOTOR IN IT AND I STILL HAVE THE ORIG. ECU THAT CAME WITH THE CAR IN IT TOO (ORIG ECU THAT CAME WITH THE CAR IS A SOHC VTEC) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND WONT LET ME REV PAST 5400 RPM WHILE DRIVING. WHAT IM TRYING TO ASK IS WHAT ECU DO I NEED TO MAKE THE CHECK ENGING LIGHT GO OFF (SO IT WILL GO THREW EMISHIONS) AND GET THE CAR TO REV PAST 5400. ANY INFO WILL BE GREATLY APPR. PLEASE HELP ME HT

u running a p2p? u need an obd2-obd1 jumper and a p06 from a 92-95 dx. u could stay obd2 and get a dx p2e ecu did u swap the y7 oil pump onto the 1.5? if not get a jumper and po6
likely just codes for VTEC... In which case your going to need a VTEC head and all that goes along with it. Is your old head any good??? Look up info on a "mini-me swap"
why'd you put an obd0 motor in? i dunno the inspection laws in maryland but i'm pretty sure they connect the inspection machine to your obd2 port which reads the ecu for readiness monitors and cels if any. if more then 2 monitors or any cels are there it'll automatically fail inspection. 98 EX means P2P ecu but if you aren't going to bother with the legal swap into your car. you could go p2e which is the 96-98 dx/lx ecu which is nonvtec. assuming you still using the original engine harness to the car. find the codes. if they're just vtec codes ignore and get a p2e ecu. other wise swap to a d16y8 or obd2a motor. you can also get a d16y7 dx/lx motor and use the p2e ecu.
on a side note. i have a p2e ecu for sale.

like it has been said before if those check engine lights are all vtec related i would put the y8 head on the block depending on the condition of the head of course. then just wire everything up and done.
