Cool idea for a thread! I'll see if my dad has some pics of the stuff we used to do back in the day. I grew up working with my dad as a carpenter until I was about 21. We did some pretty cool stuff.
Wish I could contribute... But the only carpenters in my family were my Grandfather and my Uncle...
I'll see if I can get a pic or two of their stuff.
Most I ever did was make a sarcophagus for a barbie in Gr. 7 (school project)

Here is my contribution....
First project was a jewlrey box. Came out pretty good. Oak sides w/ black walnut for a lid. I didn't spend more than 2-3 hours on it total.

Then I made a few cutting boards as gifts. I used an african wood, oak and black walnut. I then treat them with mineral oil so they last and it's safe on food. Spent about 2 hours on 3 boards.

Then I said why not make something pretty complicated.... so I made a machinist tool box from black walnut. This took about 10-12 hours to make.

I've got more, but I don't want to flood this thread with my ****. lol

Wow! Nice work guys!
I have never, EVER worked with wood in my entire life. I guess it's a lot like machining, but with really soft metal! I've always had an interest in it, but I feel bad for the trees! hehehe ...

I guess I just never really invested in tooling for wood, only metal. I always figured wood would come later cause old guys really get into it...lol.
I have only ever made a few sub box's and random **** that is meaningless.
I have tons of respect for someone who can make nice things with wood, with metal you can always just add a weld or add more metal to something if the gap is off. but not with wood.

Made my mom a candle holder for christmas:

The seven parts pivot around a single axis:

The bottom of the pivot is threaded in to a tee nut and can be loosened to position the arms any way you want:

Also a christmas present. It's so my brother can stand his laptop up on end (he has it hooked up to a monitor and keyboard). Made from oak:

Also added this cavity to the bottom. I cast a lead slug to fit flush inside it. This keeps the computer from tipping over:

It's probably considered cheating since I did it in a CNC mill.
