94 del sol vtec stutters at low rpm
Ive had my del sol for a while now and its had this issue to the present day. When i got it it was stuttering alot worse than it does now. After changing the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor the problem was still there. I was going up a hill one day and the car started stuttering and almost backfired as it shut off. It would not start after that. Upon inspection it turned out the coil in the distributor had gone out. I opted out for a new distributor from ebay. After replacing that it turned out the timing belt was off some teeth. I corrected that issue and the car ran fine but still had the stuttering although it was more subtle. From there i changed the fuel filter, injectors and added 2 more thick ground cables. The grounding seemed to help the most. Now I am getting a error code that popes up and goes away when you shut the engine off for a 9 – CYP – cylinder sensor. I talked to a mechanic friend of mine he said it might be the alternator spiking voltage. I would appreciate any help in solving the issue
You're probably not going to get alot of responses because the CYP sensor is part of the distributor and that makes it look like the dizzy you got was bad, not installed properly or the timing wasn't set exactly. It's very unlikely that the alternator spiking causes this one and only code. Check the CYP sensor and its wires with a meter and re-check the valve timing.
