Default 2 New tires, put front or rear?

I just purchased a set of 4 wheels/tires. Two tires are 50% tread (Bridgestone Potenza RE92) and the other 2 are Pirelli P7000 with 90% tread. Where would the new one's fit best? I thought front as the front tires direct/steer the car, is that right? Thanks for your response!

Brand new tires should always go on the rear when possible on a front wheel drive car due to the coatings that new tires have on the surface from the factory. So the 2 Pirellis with 90% tread should go up front, and the 2 new ones go on the rear.

I can see that I am obviously out voted here... However it is generally accepted that it is dangerous to drive with 2 brand new tires mounted on the front on a FWD car. Due to the slickness of the coating on new street tires from the factory, they should be put on the back until that coating has worn off - say 100 mi or so. If you chose to put them on the front, be very cautious driving on them for the first 100 mi. - i.e. Don't go out and test the limits of the 2 brand new tires on the front...
