I've texted this guy and it is a scam. He's only willing to "tow the car down" with a $1500 deposit. Otherwise he said he would "part it out." He was also unwilling to provide vin#. carfax or additional pics.
this is a common scam on craigslist. the vehicle details and photos don't matter. it happens on bikes, boats, RVs, you name it.
they don't have the vehicle, they will tell you that eBay has it because of a previous bad sale there, and send you fake eBay documents.
i've also seen the same scam with autotrader documents. either way, the price is ridiculous to hook as many people as possible. from that point, it's a matter of who will moneygram their life savings without seeing the vehicle or its title in hopes of getting a great deal.
i discovered this scam as a motorcycle shopper a few years ago, and now i run a couple websites that show up in search engines if you search ebay vpp, the name of one of the programs the scam exploits.
people are gullible, and the only way to fight this crap on craigslist is to flag the ads and mobilize the victims to help alert other victims like i've done with a few websites that now rank if people are curious enough to search the web to learn before they wire all their money.

This one doesn't seem as far fetched as one I found a couple of years ago. Lady was selling a fully restored 69 COPO Camaro for like 15k. lol Claimed it was her ex-husbands and she just wanted to get rid of it just to spite him. I emailed for giggles and got a story about how the car was in a container and I would send the money to a 3rd party to hold until it got delivered and I released the funds to her. It was on the Houston Craigslist so I told her I would just go get it then it was miraculously in a container in Miami.
Right, I hope nobody falls for this crap but sadly I'm sure people do.
