LS/vtec swap...engine bogs above part throttle
long story. my buddy had a b16 swapped EG sedan. ran mint. pulled that engine out for another.
he built an LS/vtec for it and swapped it in and everything is mechanically sound/correct.
car would start and idle fine but it wont take throttle above say 20%ish. if you roll into it, the RPMs will come up to around 4K but then it will bog,or if you jab it, the engine will bog.
so we changed a ton of ****, brand new chipped P28 that is good, engine bogs running on the chip, bogs running on the romulator, bogs on a stock ECU. changed fuel pump, injectors, dist, map, tps, etc. long story short gave up messing with it and sold it to my dad. when we had the computer on it and running crome all the sensors seemed to be giving good readings. the AFR would go lean when it bogs and you cant add any amount of fuel to make it go away.
so he pulls it out and we swap it into his EF hatchback(which is bone stock, everything works perfect with stock engine)
i do the DPFI to MPFI conversion and wire everything up using his original harness. did a really nice job of it. swapped the TPS wires like you are supposed to. repinned the dist with OBD1 plugs.(maybe i have a wire messed up? arent there two white wires? i'll have to recheck) i dont have a 4 wire 02 sensor wired up but it is disabled in the crome i believe. also did the OBD0-OBD1 conversion using a rywire conversion harness.
anyways i have changed the dist with one that i know is good (came off my running car) changed throttle bodies so different TPS and MAP sensor. tried a couple map sensors. and if i unplug the map it seems to run the same as when it is plugged in. changed out the ecu to another chipped obd1 ecu that i know is good and still bogs. i dont think the chip is corrupt because it wouldnt run on the romulator when the engine was in the EG. changed FPRs also. pump and filter should be ok because the stock engine ran fine. the thing should at least take throttle without bogging like crazy.
anyways with the engine running you can open the throttle plate by hand and spray starting fluid in the TB and the engine RPMS like crazy like it should, so it seems it isnt getting enough fuel......
i am kind of stumped. i have been messing with these for along time and have a pretty good understanding of everything and i cant figure out wtf is going on with this one.
is it maybe something regarding the O2 sensor? idk if it shares wiring with something else that is critical. i would have to look at the wiring diagrams again. but i am sure it is disabled right now.
i also searched all over HT and somebody said something about their temp sensor being screwed up and that causing the car to bog like this. i havent changed those out yet. i dont have crome on my computer so i cant link up to the ecu and monitor the sensors and my buddy that tunes is 100 miles away so i dont want to make him come and waste another day messing with this thing.
well anyways if you made it this far, THANK YOU FOR READING THIS. i really appreciate it and hope somebody has figured this out before.

thinking it has something to do with the 'fuel dampner' nut on the end of the fuel rail. working on changing that setup right now!
