Default brakes sticking.

I'm helping my son on an 89 CRX DX. his brakes didn't work when he bought this car and it turned out to be a bad master cylinder so we changed it. he tried to drive it yesterday and the front brakes seemed to be draging really bad so I changed both front calipers. went for a drive today and it's still doing it. what seems odd is it don't do it all the time. we can pump the brakes real hard a few times and they stop draging. i'm not sure what to try next.

we also noticed that the pedal seems tight. what I mean is you can only move the pedal about an inch or so and it stops. could this mean that the rod in the booster is to long? would this cause the problem I discribed?

I would look into checking the booster pushrod to master cylinder cleatance. There might be no clearance or the pushrod is sitting against the MC a bit.
