4th gen fuel tank cracking.
Anyone else here had a fuel tank on their 4th gen crack?
Last weekend I put my car up on the lift at my friends shop to weld a new resonator on it (old one is rattling from the inside.. too much bottoming out). As I'm about to start cutting *sniff sniff* I smell fuel! Didnt see any fuel on the tank until I got out a flashlight and inspection mirror... to my dismay I found a hairline crack on top wet with fuel
My car is a Florida car that has never seen a bit of salt, but has been lowered for like 5 years now.
I plan to use POR-15 fueltank sealer on it (its a weekend process you gotta drop the tank, strip it... etc) In the meantime I have to listen to my resonator rattle uuugh.
Anyway something to look out for guys

Oh okay. How did you find the crack again? By dropping the whole tank or just taking off the fuel pump cover? Why would you do any of this for a resonator anyway? 'Cause of the smell of gas I guess?
My resonator has bottomed out one too many times and is rattling internally. Its driving me CRAZY and makes my 1500 dollar car sound like a 5 dollar car.
As I was about to weld a new one in place my friend smelled the fumes.
I just mirrored it through the cover and could barely just see the flashlight through it.
To be honest I could careless about the crack, but welding around it seems unwise.. I don't know seems unprudent to just forget about it too.
edit: my car has 257,000 miles on it now... perhaps they're finally starting to show
