Default Transmission removal => fork arm removal ??

I am in the process of removing the transmission on my car (clutch is not cooperating anymore) and yesterday I unhooked / unbolted everything I could before darkness and unger got the better of me. All that is left to do is removing the driveshafts from the tranny and removing the three supports.
After reading the helm manual I noticed that the removal of the fork arms (from the ball joint) is suggested to be able to remove the driveshafts. However, after an inspection, I am under the impression that all that is needed is to remove the lower bolt on the fork arm and the castle nut holding the lower part of the wheel hub assembly to be able to flip the hub assembly out and pull the drive shaft out of the tranny casing.
Am I wrong ? ( if yes please explain)

1. remove cotter pin
2. remove castle nut
3. use hydraulic jack on brake rotor hub area
4. jack until you can put the handle of a 1/2" drive rachet (craftsman at least) next to the lower ball joint (handle "sidewayrs")
5. quickly lower jack
6. move hub assembly to get halfshaft out of tranny.

drink beer throughout steps 1-6.

So you don't even remove the lower fork arm bolt...interesting. I will take a good look at this procedure. Thanks
