'96 auto LS ABS motor noise only on start-up
Well i have an auto LS coupe and when i first start it up the abs motor/ assembly make this horrible buzzing noise and my ABS code pops up..it stays on for about a good 10-20 seconds then stops, and ABS code is gone..what is going on ? lol. i checked the FAQ's but it only shows how to replace/ clean system.
how or what do I need to do to get rid of this buzzing? any help will be AWESOME! it's been like this for about 2-3 weeks.do i need to add/change fluid?
thanx MIKE

well i would clean the system but also check the relay, sometimes it takes a little longer to switch. the noise you hear is annoying sound when the abs motor primes, like a fuel pump. mine does the same thing, but no abs light. its like "eeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr" right after cranking the car then nothing. one day it was wet out and i was at a stop light and it made that noise.
check the level in the resevoir on top of the abs motor.
check the abs relay.
take it to a brake shop and have both brakes and abs systems flushed.
just my 2 cents

lol..yup! "errrrrrrrrrrr"
can i use regular dot3 brake fluid or it. and where do i fill it at? i tried but couldnt find a way to put it through.
its weird its all "eeerrrrrr" when i start it and ABS code is on.. and when it stops it goes away.. and it'll come back sometimes when im driving.

There are three self-diagnoses described below.
1) Initial diagnosis: Performed right after the engine starts until the ABS indicator light goes off.
2) Regular diagnosis: Continuously performed (under some conditions) after the ABS indicator light goes off until the engine stops.
3) Individual part/system diagnosis: Diagnosis about a specific part/system under its operating conditions.
* The CPU (central processing unit) controls the following when it detects a problem during self-diagnosis:
1) Turns the ABS indicator light ON.
2) Turns the front and rear fail-safe relays off.
3) Stops the ABS control.
4) Stops the ABS pump. (The pump may work under some conditions.)
5) After the DTC is stored in the control unit, the CPU stops self-diagnosis.
* When the engine is started, the ABS control unit begins the initial diagnosis and operates the solenoid valve one time. The kickback may be felt when the brake pedal is pressed.
* When the ABS control unit detects the pressure switch OFF signal during the initial diagnosis, it operates the pump motor, and performs the pump motor over-run diagnosis and pump motor diagnosis. Therefore, there are 2 cases where the pump motor operates or does not operate after the engine is started.
* Normally, after the initial diagnosis, the pump motor operates based on the pressure switch signal, regardless of the vehicle speed.
