Ok i found a zc for a good price with 109k miles and I just wanted to know if its worth geting one.. like the fact of performance stuff made for it and where could you get some? All i would need is an si wire harness and Im good to go. But Is it worth it or is saving up for a b16 more worth it? thanks all

zc dohc are good motors...aftermarket parts are a little tuff to find for it but if you dont mind just the stock bolt on's then its all good...also you dont need a si wire harness since all you have to do is use your existing harness and convert to mpfi...!!!

it all depends on the power output you're looking for.

and how much work you're wanting to put into the car.

Well the same person is selling a si wire harness for 20 bucks so i thought that would be worth it and I wouldnt mind having a vtec starting at the power a b16 has.. hmm well the zc just seems like ok output for the price and would seem like a lot of work to get some number out of it.. and the b16 seems like a good starting point with a lot of potential. idk I wouldnt mind the cheap zc to save money but on the other hand I could afford a b16 shortly by saving a lil more money and would like where im starting at but might be tapped for a bit after that haha idk choices choices

the zc dohc is a direct bolt in swap and has only 30hp less than a stock b16a and costs 3 times less to swap and doesn't require b-series mounts and other stuff...!!!

ya ive looked at it a bit. and from thread views and responses it looks like theres about 100 members haha jk but also I wanted to know if this motor (92-95 honda civic 1600 cc sohc vtec engine, zc, d16a) would fit. thats the title of the motor. Like if this motor would use the same mounts and my d15 5spd tranny? but still require a new harness or mpfi convert?

Get a '92-'93 LS swap instead, you won't regret it.

the jdm d16a is equivalent to the usdm d16z6. so yes your d15 trans will work. any new engine you go with is going to require that you convert to mpfi. if your car is not an Si then you cannot simply drop in an si harness.

In my opinion the zc is well worth the buy. go to d-series.org or whatever and you can find that people have done a bunch of stuff to the dohc zc motors. I had one and it was still pretty quick with a blown headgasket lol. It will put a smile on your face since its one of the d series engines that arent shitty.

Question # 1. What is your budget?
Question # 2. What kind of power are you looking to get?
Question # 3. What are you looking to use the car for?
Question # 4. How much of the work are you doing yourself? Ties in to #1

with everything that i am selling with it, it should make a solid 160 hp, the ecu chip was custom made to perform with the aftermarkets on it.
yes it is the original black top just custom painted darkish red but is chipping.
you can see the pics on it on the crx parts for sale forum on either page 42 or 43. red crx parting out

Dude, i honestly have no clue what half the guys on are are talking about. there are plentely of zc parts, just about everything thats avilable for b series and singles cams are avilable for a DOHC zc. also there is no such thing as a "brown top" zc or a black top zc. the "brown top" he is refuring to is not a zc at all, they cam in the 86-87 integra there vacum advance D16a1. and the euro zc's are actually pretty badass esp the valve covers they come with. and the zc moves pretty good with just an intake, header and the jdm computer. i personally love zc's. good tourqe bands and good passing power. now with the suggestion of a ls, that wouldnt be bad, but once u go ls u wont wanna go with a b16, no tourqe. i have one in my coupe and i think its slow compared to my ls with b16 tranny that was in it. but dont get stuck in the noob state of mind vtec isnt all its cracked up to be.. good luck, and talk to a couple of people that have or have owned one .
