Default Anyone with LS fifth gear?

I recently threw an LS fifth in my I/H/E GSR Integra. With the GSR 5th I was able to pretty much redline in fifth. With the LS fifth 5k RPM is about it. Great for gas mileage though!!
So im curious, any ITR's with an LS fifth? Are you able to redline 5th gear or at least accelerate past 125 MPH?
BTW, I have ITR 1-4 and LS 5th, so if you have any questions about this setup, post em up!

where'd you get the different gearing for all that...will an LS 5th gear fit into a B16/Si tranny?

How much did you get the LS fifth gear for? How difficult is that install? I want to do the same thing.

no man! cams aren't tranny parts! You must be on LSD.
The fifth gear basically goes right on. I had a tranny shop do the work.

Why?

Sounds like a useless mod to me on a stock ITR tranny and certainly won't make you faster, it'll just give you a higher gearing limited Top speed, Not get you there faster.

You just aren't making sense here dude. And probably not being clear enough.

Your top speed for 5th gear with the STOCK GSR Gearing at 8,000 RPM would be 156.7.

Your top speed with an LS 5th "which is .714" added to the GSR 1-4 and stock FD in your GSR at 8,000 RPM would be raised to 172.7.

Your current speed at 5,000 RPM should be 108 MPH and certainly NOT the correct TOP indicated Redline SPEED for a GSR tranny with an LS .714 5th gear.

You are just not making sense.

And BTW you really shouldn't be redlining 5th gear with the stock GSR gearing or with the LS 5th for that matter on public roads. That is just foolish.

Basically what Im asking, is does an ITR have enough power to pull through the entire revband in fifth gear. *edit* cuz a I/H/E GSR does not have enough power to accomplish this.

I had to buy a new fifth gear, so why not go for great gas mileage!

i have ITR gearing in my tranny and an LS 5th gear. I have never raced in 5th gear before.. that is just insane. the highest i'll ever race to is 100mph.. and that is around redline of 4th gear with ITR gears for me.. anything hihger than that to me is just plain foolish on the streets. and unless your car is really ******* fast, yo uwont need 5th gear also in a 1/4 mile. mid to high 11s, then you might have to worry bout shifting into 5th.. but I doubt anybody here is that fast.
the ls 5th gear is really nice for cruising.. @ 80mph, rpms are at 3500 vs 4000 rpms with gsr gears.

Dude, WTF are you babbling about?

Your GSR doesn't have enough power through the gears? You just don't make sense, so you decided to get a taller 5th gear?

In reality you are jipping your car with the LS5th.
If you feel you didn't have enough power before, your car will lag even more with the LS 5th.

for the life of me I still can't figure out why you did this unless you had some crazy 300HP FI monster. Your LS 5th gear choice makes no sense to me at all.

D, Any more?

YES,

it has the power to pull in every gear to indicated redline and beyond.

lol, I think I am the only one who understands what he is asking

He got the LS 5th gear for cruising and better gas mileage. Not for racing with it, or to get more power/acceleration from 5th.

He decided to test and see if he could get a higher top speed, since before he was limited to the redline of the GSR 5th gear.

He found that the engine did not have enough power to go to redline in the LS 5th gear.

Out of curiosity, he wanted to know if maybe an ITR owner had an LS 5th gear, and if they had tried to redline with it to see if they encountered the same thing.

If you want good gas mileage, adjust your driving style.

It makes no sense to space out your gear ratios for the sake of good gas mileage.

Whatever floats your boat though.

What adjustments can you make to your driving style when on the highway? Go slower?

How many people actually use fifth to race anyways? Most people I know use 5th to cruise. If you use it just to cruise, why not cruise at a lower rpm?

I get great gas mileage cruising at 4000+ rpm in 5th on the freeway.

I'd never space out my gear ratios further.

Didn't say it was my idea, or that I would do it.

Just clearified what he was asking, and stated that I don't think its a horrible idea depending on how your car is driven.

A lower crusing rpm is great for those 400 mile drives between LA and SF.

StyleTEG: I wish I was rich, cuz I'd give you 100 bucks!! You understand me 100%

Speed limit = 75 MPH. So I drive 85. That's VTEC on a GSR!
