Default Axle not engaged in transmission

Replaced my drive axles about a month and a half ago. Been doing fine until yesterday. Turned my wheel sharply to the right to back out of my driveway and then my car had no drive. As in, car in gear, nothing. Checked out passenger side axle this is what I saw. Why?

Tried pushing axle back into tranny with no luck.

well I just replaced them with replacements from autozone.

I just have to push them back in?

is that possible without removing the wheel ect.?

will this keep happening?

is my suspension effed or something?

The lower ball joint i got from autozone for that side is not secured with a cotter pin, instead its a nylon nut or some crap. effing stupid if you ask me but it was their last one. i felt like its shiotty disign would lead to something like this. but it may be unrelated idk

umm you might be able to do it with the wheel still on, (unloaded) but it wld be easier to take it off then just push it in and you will feel it when it goes in, or you can take a hammer to it through a peice of wood, if it stil doesnt go in then, the snapring might be bent or something

yeah.. you need to pull it out of the hub to do it easier, and it sounds like you didnt replace them with the right axles, because they SHOULDNT walk out like that.. well, unless the snapring is bent, but even then, you have to put HELLA force on them, and even then, if they were the right axles, they shouldnt have popped out

I've had correct axles pop out on me before but only once and they never did it again after that and the only other time I have seen cars do it is when the snap ring is completely absent. So if you put it back in it should be fine. If it does it again maybe you have a differential problem

you just didnt have them in all the way. i would definately take the wheel off. my method of making sure the axle is fully seated in is while the lower balljoint is off, i mount the outer CV and looser tighten the axle nut, and basically ram the axle in. its not great for the spider gears inside the inner CV, but those arent a big deal.

I have my dad pushing on the outer joint and my pushing on the inner one, usually works.

I did have one that wouldn't go in, I took the snap ring off and compressed it a little, then put it back on, it went in just fine.
