will my motor start without any probs?
i searched, but cant find anything specific to my scenerio. I picked up a R swap, but it sat with the head, tranny and block off for about 3 months. it had cardboard over cyls but it wasnt really sealed, the motor is drained of coolant and oil and its been in a garage thats about 40-50F. i was told it may have rusted!? i thought it would take alot longer, but im really concerned now since i pulled my other motor and i was planning on swappin in the other one this weekend. Is there any steps i need to take, besides manually cranking it a few times after i fill it wth oil? please help me im tweekin out now lol
yes i did, im not really sure where to look, cyls look clean, need to be cleaned because oil sat on them after the head was pulled. head needs to be hot tanked, but is there things that may have rusted like bearings?
Put about a cap full of oil in each cylinder and let it soak down into the rings.
Do this before rotating the crank to install the timing belt (moving the pistons in the cylinder).
If you put the head on and have the engine sitting for a few months before installing it, then you should put some more oil in thee after you install it and are ready to fire it up for the first time.
Disconnect your injectors and remove your spark plugs when you go to starting it up for the first time.
Crank the engine over a bunch of times and then hook up the injectors and install spark plugs.
This will get the oil pumped through the engine without much resistance.
It will be 'primed' with oil and ready to take on compression.

Most likely there is residual oil on everything in your engine.
You would have had to have cleaned it off to remove it.
Bearings are most likely in good.
