Default Can I run Crower 403's without tuning them?

I'm wondering if you have to get your cams tuned, I have a 90 Integra GS and am Planning on getting Crower 403'2 without the springs. Also how much does that tuning usually cost?

My GS is seriously lacking in bottom end power, all the way until 4000, how would I want to tune it so that it increases my lowend power?
thx

In an LS cams wont really gain you lowend power. They will just gain you topend and might even take away low end power. The LS makes the most lowend of any B series motor except the B20.

u want power after 4k rpm? thas exactly wat 4-1 headers do! might wanna try getting those. 403 should be nice, nuthin too krazy but still nice. also tuning some shop might even do it for free (if you know the ppl there good enuff). free as in jus sitting there tuning it (fpr, ur electronics, timing, etc.). but if u wanna go on a dyno and tune it i believe import builder charges about $150 (we got it done for cheaper so i dunno the exact coat)

those cams will kill your bottom end even further, you wont really feel power till around4500, then hit hard at like 5500. i would really suggest the springs and retainers though. I had 403's for a while, but decided to go with the 404's later because i still desired more power. Also, you can get some bottom end back with a 4-2-1 header and good backpressure.

if you think your GS is lacking bottom end power than get a camaro because youre not gonna get much better than that in a honda. in order to tune with the cams you're gonna need some cam gears and some kind of fuel pressure regulator.

You can run the 403's untuned, but I'd recommend leaving the cam gears at 0,0. I had them at +2/-2 and it still died a lot, and I live in a mild climate. Tuning is usually about $150-200/hour but it is well worth it.

funny cause my 86 lude had better bottom end, but nothin up top...

so are you saying I can't tune without the cam gears? If I were to run without the gears and springs what would I have to watch put for? If I kept my RPM under 7000 I'd be ok? This car is 90 Street 10% race, and is gonna last me a loooooong time.
