fix the problem then your vtec will come back. are you running a cable or electric vss? if cable it probably just came loose. dont try to bypass a problem instead just fix it since you already know what it is

im assuming you dont know much about swaps. your cable tranny has nothing to do with your CEL being on. what ecu are you running? it makes no difference which transmission your running as long as it runs. your speed sensor sends a signal to your cluster via the cable that goes from your transmission to your cluster, if this cable is loose then it will not send a proper signal. the signal for cable transmissions is sent via rotations of the cable itself which winds up in teh speedometer cluster and then via i believe a magnet which picks up the signal and displays it for you on your cluster. check to make sure the cable isnt loose.

on another note, does your vtec solenoid even work? to check it attach a wire to the singe wire coming off the solenoid to positive power source (battery), next you should hear a click. the click means its engaging.

just so you know im running an obd1 converted LS/Vtec with a GSR cable transmission, forget what your thinking about it being the transmissions fault you have a CEL.
