4G TL Nose : Does Carbon Fibre Help?
Doesn't help.
I feel that the most glaring aesthetic problem with the grille is that it overlaps the front edge of the hood without a pronounced borderline. The continuity from the hood surface into the rest of the front end just isn't working. The carbon cover doesn't help, and in fact exacerbates the problem on a light-colored car. If the hood was extended to overlap the top edge of the grille (as with the TSX), I think there would be far fewer complaints.
It's certainly distinctive, but in a negative way.

I don't understand the hate speak either, unless it's just habitual nay saying or some kind of weird jealousy.
personally, I think this is the best TL yet. I love the grill and the overall styling of it. **** is sick...def get a thumbs up from me. Nice whip man.
You're probably going to get really mad for me saying this, but that last pic you posted looks like a WALRUS!
I really like the TL, but I can't stand that grill, it's just too big and doesn't flow well with the front fascia. I hope the aftermarket comes out with something to fix that.

On Thursday afternoon I saw a black '09 TL with what appeared to be an aftermarket replacement grille. It was a metal mesh/screen-type grille with a thin chrome border, similar to what you see on Cadillac's V cars. The car looked fantastic; it was a huge improvement. I don't think it would compliment a lighter color as well as it did the black though.

I believe the grill you are refering to is made by RON JON, here is the link

The RJ grille is also available without the A.
As time goes on, I think the OEM look for the TL is catching on more and more. When I bought my TL, I just wasn't worried about the looks.
But on my commute the other day a woman came speeding up behind me in a TL FWD model and I caught myself thinking that it was actually a rather good looking car.
There were problems with the finish that kept the parts out of the dealerships for a long time.
I think that you could safely predict that it's going to be a couple of months before they are easy to get.
The Sports Grille is basically the same grille as OEM, but in a darker finish. There is also an accessory part available the same colour to replace the dark chrome piece on the rear of the car at the trunk lid.
The more I see this car, the more it grows on me... I hated how it looked at first, but the more I stare at it, and the more good things I hear about how they made the TL better than it was (I have an '04), the better it looks and the more I want one after I get sick of mine.
I drove 60 hours on a roadtrip from VA to FL to LA and back and saw just one of these on the highway... but SO many new Acura SUVs.
I'm guessing the TL sales don't touch the SUV sales in number? That or a coincidence I guess.
