Cigarette Lighter installation?
Yet another problem
with my 2001 Accord, the previous owner took out the DC outlet of my car, since he had some really nice head unit/speakers/sound system/and other things. And was wondering if I could just do this myself, or should i have someone that's trained in doing this? I'm about to go a road trip soon, bought my GPS a few weeks back, and now i have no where to keep it charged up in my car. I'm sorry there's just so many things wrong with him right now I'm just trying to fix what i can so i wont have to pay a lot of money.
Also i think the Honda dealership i went to was trying to rip me off. The technician said that i need a new timing belt though he didn't look at it. If he didn't take a look at it how would he know that i need one?

about the the timing belt, what he said ^^...
as for the dc port. its easy to do. if you have any experience with wireing do it your self. since you asked i assume you dont (or not much anyways.) i'm sure someone here has a diagram that could help you with knowing which wires to use. if not just use a multimeter to figure out which ones to use. i will look around and try to find one for you. all you have to do is connect some wires. make sure that you at least cover all connections in electrical tape. IMO wire nuts would be better, some will say solder and heatshrink them but that would be a pain in that area. anyways i'll get back to you when i find a diagram for you

The wires probably are still there. I bought the connection from TAS Auto, I had posted the above on my blackberry and was too lazy to type out the rest haha.
I think it was like $25 for the full lighter assembly.

lol well I have a few 100 miles left before i change the timing belt, I changed my oil i think Saturday. I have very, very little experience with wiring, mostly due to the fact that my dad wont allow me to mess around with his truck or my car. But i still do sometimes with the help of some of my friends.
So in the long run would it be better for me to go with a used one or a new one?
Thanks for going to look up the diagram for me, cause i've been trying to find one for the longest and have yet to have any luck with that
All right thanks for the help man.

Timing belt is like 7 years or 90k miles I think? Whichever comes first, if you haven't had it changed at least once you're overdue.

Yours is more expensive since it's the whole assembly.

i thought the timing belt was 100K but i could be wrong. i would probably do it at around 90k just to be safe though even if it is 100k.
i couldnt find the diagram but i have a pdf with all of the wireing diagrams on my computer at home (i'm at work if you didnt guess) i'll take a look at that when i get home.

Oh well i wrong then I'm sitting somewhere between 76-80K. I'll be sure to change it when I get close to 100K just to be on the safe side.
Thanks man no need to rush, after all still got money to get . . . which is kinda hard without a real job.

It's already overdue because of age.
i'm still trying to find that diagram. sorry its taking so long. had to fix the snowblower last night. (just to clean the carb just about every peice of plastic on the damn thing had to be removed. f***ing craftsman engineers!)
Did you ever locate that diagram that you referenced in December? I need to replace the cigarette socket in my '94 accord. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
You need to look in the Accord FAQ and reference the Cluster Removal thread as it goes over how to remove the panels to get to the cigarette lighter.
I think I found the one that you need. Page 28 in the bottom right corner. That might just be for illumiation. Maybe Page 29.
