Default welding shortshifter

alright i got a question for you guys. i got a ss b and m shifter its origionally a straight on but i was to make it bent. i have already cut it and shaped it to the shape i want, now i cant weld it will my flux mig. i have access to a gas mig welder can that weld the ss?

yes you can mig weld it but you need tri mix gas and ss wire.

just tig it, make sure that you take out the bushings out of the shifter so they don't melt.

It's not going on the space shuttle. Just weld it with whatever you have.

You want to make sure you weld it good so you don't end up with the end of the shifter in your hand when it brakes from the weld.

i have punched my radio by breaking a shifter, im up to 2 time shifting and the **** in my hand at the end of the shift. i welded it with the flux mig and hit the shifter with a hammer to test the weld and snapped within the first 2 hits.

What machine is it?
Maybe you need go slower and turn up the heat.

Really has nothing to do with fluxcore being the problem.


Is it tubing or solid?

if its solid try to bevel the edges with a grinder or belt sander or something....try sticking it in the oven for a while too

****! i forgot about that thats whay we had to do to weld cast potmetal, preheated the metal with a rose bud.
