Will The New Honda Style Key Work On My 97?
I just picked up a 97 coupe and the key it came with is an ugly spare key.
Would the new key with the big H on it be able to be cut and used for my car, or does it have to be the old one that just says honda?

i mean if you're that worried about a key than i think you have some issues haha. you're going to see it when you take it out of your pocket to put it in the ignition. unless you sit home and stare at it.

Maybe you can get a newer Honda key blank and try to open the shell casing, then shave down your old key and glue it in the new shell casing with epoxy.
I don't know if the shell casing can be opened for the newer key shown in your image though.

well if you want a key like the 7th gens, you're gonna need to find a totaled one and buy the locks and ignition because i dont think junkyards sell just the locks anymore. the reason our keys wont work on your car is because our keys are laser cut as opposed to yours which are not. maybe u can buy a set of locks new from honda, but its gonna cost an arm and a leg like everything else does there.
speaking of keys.. does anyone have an '06 Si that has the trunk button on their keys?.. I don't understand why mine doesn't but I see people with base models that do..

just go to the honda dealer and check to see what selection they have on hand that will work with you car. When i bought my ej6 a few years back, it came with a cheap swap meet key, i went to the deal and pick out one and had them cut me a new one and Know i have nice key With the "H" on it.
